My Favorites

Summer is just a month away and I thought I would share some of my favorite summertime things. Starting from the top and going clockwise....
1. J. Crew Vintage Tank Top---I think I probably have 5 different colors of this tank top. It is a great layering piece. It is so soft and I love that it is longer in length. It is a great top to dress up or dress down and you can't beat the price.
2. Wedge Sandals-----Love these shoes for summer. They give me that extra bit of height that I desperately need. I can wear them running errands and not feel like my feet are going to fall off like when I wear heels.
3. Stella & Dot Paradise Studs-----Perfect everyday earring to wear all the time.
4. Erin Condren Life Planner----If you are anything like me, I need to be able to write down my to-do lists, events, etc. and this planner has it all. I love it and can't believe it took me so long to find it.
5. Joy Candle----Love this candle. It is soy based and has such a light scent that isn't overpowering.
6. Nars Blush in Orgasm----Cult favorite for years. This color looks amazing on everyone and gives you that perfect glow with a hint of shimmer.
7. Sunnies----Perfect for when you had to rush out the door without make-up on. : )
8. Mabelline Mascara------This mascara is awesome. It gives my lashes incredible volume. I always get asked what kind of mascara I use when I wear it. And the best part is it is under $10.00
9. Bobbi Brown Extra Moisturizer-----This moisturizer is by no means cheap but it is worth the splurge. Since being pregnant, my skin has become extremely dry and this is the only cream that does the job.

Style Trend-Neon
Remember in school and loving to write and draw with highlighter markers. The colors were bright and so much more fun than black and blue pens.
Well it looks like some of our favorite markers have made its way to the fashion industry! Neon colors are popping up everywhere. Just today, I was at the mall and I walked into my all time favorite store, J. Crew and was taken aback with all the bright neon clothes, particularly neon pink.
I must say that I am really starting to love this trend, and I do mean trend as I don't think we will be seeing neon for the next 5 years, but for the time being, I think it is really a fun trend to play with.
But, I think that you need to be careful that you don't end up looking like a highlighter marker at the same time. When wearing neon, please please focus on one item to wear. Do not wear neon from head to toe. Keep your make-up simple and classic. Want to try the trend but feel a little overwhelmed or not wanting to go big? Why not try a simple neon skinny belt, nail polish, or even a handbag.
And most importantly, be confident and rock it!!!!

What to Wear Monday!-Animal Print
This Monday, we are going to focus on animal prints....mainly focusing on leopard prints. I like to think of the leopard print as a neutral along with your basic black, white, browns, etc. It goes great with basics and adds a little something extra to your outfit. The great thing about animal prints, in particular, leopard print is that you can be bold or more subtle. Anyone can wear leopard print even people who want to keep it safe with their wardrobe.
Brad Goreski, a stylist to the the stars, recently stated that every woman should own a leopard print scarf in their wardrobe.
The key to playing with leopard prints......
-Keep your outfit simple. A simple black pants or jeans and basic shirt is perfect.
-Focus on one trend. Now is not the time to start playing with a bunch of trends. Simple is the key.
-We do not want to scare people and look like an actual leopard. Keep your leopard print to just one accessory.

What to Wear Monday!
Here at Dress Up, we are going to start a new weekly post called "What to Wear Monday". If you are anything like me, I tend to rotate the same outfits in my closet especially on Mondays. They are safe bets that I know will make myself look polished and put together.
And even though I love my "tried and true outfits", I am always on the lookout for new ways to invent new outfits with pieces that I already have. I am learning after A LOT of fashion mistakes along the way (hello, college pictures, which is a blog post all it's own) that basics are the way to go. Why purchase something that you are only going to be able to wear once in awhile because like purchasing something that is so over the top that people will know when you wore it 2 times in the same week or you don't have anywhere to wear it to. That's not fun! So with that being said, let's start our very first "What to Wear Monday" post with a classic, timeless look that anyone can do because most likely you have probably something similar to every piece in your closet. The nautical look is something that will always be in style and is able to fit so many age groups. Who doesn't have a striped shirt in their closet? Don't have white jeans? No problem, grab your favorite pair of denim?
Think, Classic Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger...even if you don't have a striped t-shirt in your closet, grab an oxford collar shirt and flip up the collar and people will think you just got back from Nantucket or the Cape. : )
As for jewelry, keep it simple but make a statement. With the outfit being a little more simple, you can afford to wear something that is more bold like a bright red or coral necklace. Don't be afraid to be turn the necklace to the side to emphasize the fun closure. Pair the necklace with some hoops and a gold bracelet and you have just taken your outfit from basic to amazing!
